MUSICAL NOTES of the MUSIC MINISTRY

Greetings in the name of our risen Lord and reigning Savior, Jesus Christ

I pray that everyone had a very blessed holiday. It is no secret that there are many people who are hurting in our community and have fallen on hard times which means that it is also in our church family as well. My prayer is that you are encouraged and that your faith is strengthened in the process. I know that the year 2008 was both a challenging and triumphant one. In April we saw the departure of Pastor Wesley as he moved on to his new assignment as well as the departure of two of our own musicians.. Many people were left feeling unsure about the future of the ministry and the music ministry as well, but as you can see that God has blessed us and is still keeping us. Our Deacons and leaders have worked extremely hard to ensure that we continue in the direction that God is leading us and I commend them for their many efforts. Let us continue to pray for them and the Pastoral search committees that God will continually lead them so that His will is ultimately done in our church. In November we also witnessed history as we celebrated the victory of our very first African American President of the United States of America Barack Obama. As I look forward to this New Year there are many things that God is calling me to do as your leader so I ask that you continue to pray for me because there are so many blessings to come. I am looking forward to the growth and the opportunities to minister and be used by God not just in the church but in the community as well.

On a sad note the Springfield church community bid farewell to Mrs Josephine Fullilove who went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2008. She is considered to be the Queen of Gospel music and has touched so many lives in this community over the years.  We celebrated her wonderful life in song with a musical tribute that was held at Third Baptist Church on Friday January 2, 2009. Tehillah was in attendance for this blessed celebration. We love you Mrs Fullilove and you will be me missed tremendously!

The Mighty Men Of God Choir – Will be ministering at the Hamden County House of Corrections in Ludlow, Mass for their Martin Luther King Jr Birthday Celebration. (This event is closed to the public

Tehillah  - Will be ministering at Skinner Chapel in Holyoke, Mass.

Thursday January 29, 2009 @ 6:00 pm
Annual Church Meeting held here at the church in the sanctuary.

Saturday February 28, 2009 @ 2:00 pm
Tehillah – Will be ministering at St Michael's Cathedral in Springfield, Mass for their Open Pantry Benefit Concert.

Saturday March 7, 2009 @ 10;30 am
Mass Choir rehearsals begin for the entire month of March to prepare for the 5th Sunday and Resurrection Sunday.
